Systemlaufräder

Mit bis zu 70 Newtonmeter Drehmoment und 250 Watt Dauerleistung schiebt der Shimano-Antrieb an – und lässt blitzschnell locker, wenn der Fahrer seine Pedalkraft zurücknimmt. Dies und die besonders schlanke Bauweise (Q-Faktor: 177mm und dennoch minimale Kettenstrebenlänge), mit der sich der Motor besonders elegant in den Rahmen integrieren lässt, machen den Shimano STEPS E8000 zur idealen Kraftquelle für Fullys mit E-Antrieb.

Systemlaufräder

Keine Schaltung beherrscht blitzschnelle Gangwechsel so zuverlässig und akkurat wie die elektronisch angesteuerten Shimano Di2-Optionen der Shimano XTR- und XT-Gruppe. Von der Feinjustierung bis hin zur gewünschten Schaltgeschwindigkeit werden sämtliche Einstellungen am Lenker-Display vorgenommen – bei der Shimano Deore XT sogar per Smartphone-App und Bluetooth-Funkübertragung.

Boost-Standard Fork

What is right for the rear wheel is even more important at the front wheel - because steering precision matters. This is why STEVENS uses suspension forks and hubs with extra wide axle spacing for all its 29er fullies, the Whaka+ ES and the trail rocket Sonora SL. These 110mm of axle spacing are called "Boost" or "Plus" and stand for lots of added lateral stiffness plus space for extra wide studded tires.

Seit dem Modelljahr 2016 entsprechen die Hinterbauten aller STEVENS-Fullys dem neuen „Boost“- oder „Plus“-Achsmaß mit 148 mm Einbaubreite – und das hat gute Gründe: Die Seitensteifigkeit des Hinterrades erhöht sich um ca. 20%, wovon vor allem die großen 29er-Laufräder profitieren. Und es wird Platz geschaffen für voluminöse Stollenreifen, die auf dem Trail mit besserer Performance und mehr Fahrspaß punkten.

Rearshock Development

Diffferent purposes in different terrain require different ride properties. This is why every fully rear triangle receives a specific setup from STEVENS' engineers to meet the respective bike's requirement for optimum performance. Firm for minimum power loss in the marathon with lots of comfort for long distance riding with a linear characteristic curve and mind-soothing reserves for hard hits.

Absenkbare Sattelstütze (Dropper Post)

Optimale Sitzhöhe für Antriebs-Effizienz. Knopfdruck. Sattel runter für technische Abfahrten. Knopf… so könnte es endlos weitergehen – und auf manchen technischen Trails wird die Sattelstützen-Fernbedienung häufiger bedient als der Umwerfer-Schalthebel. Experten für Fahrspaß und Fahrsicherheit sind sich einig: selten hat eine Innovation so überzeugende Vorteile und so wenige Nachteile (Gewicht, Preis) mit sich gebracht, wie die Sattelstützen mit stufenlos einstellbarer Sitzhöhe.

500-Wh-Akku

Hier wird über Erfolg oder Misserfolg der E-Mobilität entschieden. Also setzt STEVENS bei seinen Top-Modellen Akkus mit satten 500 Wattstunden Energiegehalt für bis zu 215 Kilometer Reichweite (laut Herstellerinfo; bitte beachten Sie den Bosch-Reichweiten-Rechner) ein. Das geht sogar ohne großen Gewichtsnachteil: Das Bosch PowerPack 500 zum Beispiel ist gegenüber dem PowerPack 400 nur um 100 Gramm schwerer – darum ist der große „Tank“ unser Top-Tipp für Pedelec-Piloten, die auch vor bergigen Strecken nicht zurückschrecken. Und unsere E-Fullys mit Shimano STEPS-Antrieb sind für Alpen-Abenteuer wohl gerüstet.

Selbst bei optimaler Fahrwerks-Technologie kommt es auf ruppigen Trails zunächst auf die Reifen an – weil diese stets den ersten Kontakt mit Felsen, Wurzeln oder losem Schotter aufnehmen. Und wenn sie das neue Format „27.5+“ mit bis zu 75 mm Reifenbreite aufweisen und mit entsprechend geringem Reifendruck gefahren werden, fällt dieser Kontakt besonders innig aus. Sprich: die Stollen schmiegen sich bereitwillig um jede noch so kleine Kante und garantieren darum maximalen Kurvengrip und Traktion. Gut beim Bremsen, Lenken, Antreten – und jetzt schon der neue Standard für All-Mountain-E-MTBs.

Hydroforming

Using water or oil pressure aluminium tubes are transformed from their original round shape into their ideal shape determined by STEVENS engineers to perfectly withstand any load without any weight penalty. This means better steering precision on the trail and higher longevity.

Tapered Steerer / Tapered Headtube

Fork shaft (or steerer tube) and head tube are tapered, meaning their diameter increases from top to bottom resulting in a conical shape. The diameter needs to be bigger at the bottom since this is where higher stress is applied - especially when the bike has a higher total weight due to luggage or an e-drive and battery. Also tapered steerers feature a smoother force transfer (like forces caused by hard braking) to the downtube than forks with a continuous 1 1/8" diameter.

Triple Butted, Double Butted

Meaning a frame tube has three or two different wall thicknesses along its length. Triple butted (TB) is the usual technology with STEVENS high-quality frames.
Tubes with different wall thicknesses are optimally adjusted to certain ways of manufacturing or to withstand specific loads. Where the highest loads occur or where tubes are welded, walls are the thickest. Butted tubes allow frame weight to be lower by several hundred grams.

QR15-Steckachse vorn

Die „15“ steht für den Achsdurchmesser, das „QR“ für „Quick Release“, also Schnellspanner – und zusammen für die funktionellste Methode, das Vorderrad in der (Feder-)Gabel zu verankern. Die Vorteile sind bestechend: hohe Steifigkeit, präzise Bremsscheiben-Positionierung und kinderleichte Bedienung. Also stattet STEVENS fast alle Mountainbikes und sogar die hochwertigsten Trekking-, Crossbikes und Pedelecs damit aus. Vor allem bei den 29“-MTBs wird sogar noch die Einbaubreite erhöht – von 100 auf 110 mm, das ist noch steifer.

E-thru Rear Axle

This abbreviation stands for Shimano's thru-axle standard for MTB rear stays that integrates a thread into the dropout. On the majority of STEVENS mountain bikes a 12mm thru axle provides outstanding rear triangle stiffness and utmost precision in brake disc alignement to prevent annoying brake rub.

Smooth Welded

Additional step in welding. The first, rippled weld, typical for aluminium, is covered with a second smoother weld. This not only improves looks but also lowers the risk of notches in this spot, which makes the frames more durable.

Der neue Montage-Standard für Dämpfer kommt bei den neuen E-Fullys zum Einsatz, wo sein Hauptvorteil besonders willkommen ist: Er spart ca. 25 mm Einbaulänge und ermöglich somit (bei gegebenen Platzverhältnissen) die Verwendung eines Dämpfers mit längerer Luftkammer – also mehr Hub und besserer Performance. Oder es kann die Überstandshöhe des Oberrohres verringert werden, weil ein kürzerer Dämpfer nicht so viel Platz braucht.

Versatile cable routing

We keep the cable routing on our bikes as versatile as possible so you can ride your bike like you want to. There are wide and therefore easy to reach cable ports in the frame to insert either one or two cables or none at all - there are cover plugs for any of these configurations. This is also very convenient for retrofitting a dropper post.

Conclusion: The Shimano 8000's dynamic is simply impressive. The agile chassis was very much to our liking when climbing as well as going downhill and is among the top contenders in the all-mountain segment.
