Can a pedelec be a touring sportster?

Of course it can! For the E-Triton STEVENS goes all the way: Bosch Performance Line e-motor with sensational 500Wh battery, Shimano 10-speed shifting and new hydraulic disc brakes, dedicated pedelec suspension fork with reinforced stanchion tubes and thru-axle, LED lights with daytime running function ... only the beautifully welded aluminium frame is an low-key appearance while at the same time contributing to a slim 22.7kg (50lbs) overall weight.

Teknologi

QR15-Steckachse vorn

Die „15“ steht für den Achsdurchmesser, das „QR“ für „Quick Release“, also Schnellspanner – und zusammen für die funktionellste Methode, das Vorderrad in der (Feder-)Gabel zu verankern. Die Vorteile sind bestechend: hohe Steifigkeit, präzise Bremsscheiben-Positionierung und kinderleichte Bedienung. Also stattet STEVENS fast alle Mountainbikes und sogar die hochwertigsten Trekking-, Crossbikes und Pedelecs damit aus. Vor allem bei den 29“-MTBs wird sogar noch die Einbaubreite erhöht – von 100 auf 110 mm, das ist noch steifer.

500Wh Akku

Hier wird über Erfolg oder Misserfolg der E-Mobilität entschieden. Also setzt STEVENS bei seinen Top-Modellen Akkus mit satten 500 Wattstunden Energiegehalt für bis zu 215 Kilometer Reichweite (laut Herstellerinfo; bitte beachten Sie den Bosch-Reichweiten-Rechner) ein. Das geht sogar ohne großen Gewichtsnachteil: Das Bosch PowerPack 500 zum Beispiel ist gegenüber dem PowerPack 400 nur um 100 Gramm schwerer – darum ist der große „Tank“ unser Top-Tipp für Pedelec-Piloten, die auch vor bergigen Strecken nicht zurückschrecken. Und unsere E-Fullys mit Shimano STEPS-Antrieb sind für Alpen-Abenteuer wohl gerüstet.

Integrated Pannier Rack Mount dropout

In collaboration with pannier rack specialists Tubus and Racktime STEVENS' engineers have developed a dropout that also serves as an elegant pannier rack mount. It not only looks fantastic, it also ensures that forces caused by luggage or large amounts of groceries are evenly transmitted inot the frame - resulting in a more stable and safer design.

Even when you can't see the strut that connects the pannier rack to the fender - it is there. The strut runs below the fender and provides - in connection with the rack mounted to the fender - more stability and lateral stiffness.

Reifenfreiheit bis 47mm

Wer häufiger auf Strecken mit weniger glattem Untergrund unterwegs ist, kann bis zu 47 mm breite Reifen montieren – und dann von mehr Fahrkomfort und Pannenschutz profitieren, die deren größeres Luftvolumen mit sich bringt, weil nunmehr mit geringerem Reifenluftdruck gefahren werden kann. Die Rahmen und Gabeln dieser Bikes sind jedenfalls schon darauf vorbereitet.

Tapered Seat Tube

The seat tube tapers from top to bottom. At the top it fits a slim 27.2mm seatpost that offers some flex and therefore increases comfort especially when riding over rough ground. At the bottom the large diameter nicley flows into the bottom bracket shell and downtube to provide great stiffness and drivetrain efficiency.

Hydroforming

Using water or oil pressure aluminium tubes are transformed from their original round shape into their ideal shape determined by STEVENS engineers to perfectly withstand any load without any weight penalty. Riders of allround bikes and pedelecs will benefit from a better stability caused by hydroforming even when they are touring with heavy luggage.

Tapered Steerer / Tapered Headtube

Fork shaft (or steerer tube) and head tube are tapered, meaning their diameter increases from top to bottom resulting in a conical shape. The diameter needs to be bigger at the bottom since this is where higher stress is applied - especially when the bike has a higher total weight due to luggage or an e-drive and battery. Also tapered steerers feature a smoother force transfer (like forces caused by hard braking) to the downtube than forks with a continuous 1 1/8" diameter.

Triple Butted, Double Butted

Meaning a frame tube has three or two different wall thicknesses along its length. Triple butted (TB) is the usual technology with STEVENS high-quality frames.
Tubes with different wall thicknesses are optimally adjusted to certain ways of manufacturing or to withstand specific loads. Where the highest loads occur or where tubes are welded, walls are the thickest. Butted tubes allow frame weight to be lower by several hundred grams.

Hydraulic Disc Brakes (Trekking)

There is no more reliable brake system than hydraulic disc brakes - that is why we strongly advice everyone, who is riding their cross, trekking- or city bike 12 months a year to choose one of our models with the „DISC“ suffix. Brake power is easy to modulate and does not fade a bit in the wet. Also the brakes are almost maintenance-free. And your local STEVENS dealer will gladly explain to you what you need to take care of when removing and re-installing a wheel
