In a strong field of over 55 competitors, the 30-year-old Czech was able to prevail in the end and take the victory with a 12-second lead after 1.5 kilometres of swimming swim, 40 kilometres of road racing and a ten-kilometre run.

Coming out of the water of the Rio Lerez river a good minute behind the leader, Petra also lost some time on the eight laps and 40 kilometres of the bike distance and on a very technical city course and came into the transition zone with her STEVENS Arcalis aero road bike at the end of the main field. With fresher legs, Petra finally started the ten kilometres of the running distance, where she made up position after position from the chasing pack to gain a 24-second lead on the second-placed runner in the last kilometre and the final climb to the Plaza de la Peregrina and thus the victory.

In the end, Petra won her first triathlon World Cup by twelve seconds in a time of 01:57:43.

"I have no words. I am only happy that the hard work finally payed off," Petra said overjoyed after her victory.
