South America was not an easy task – not even for a bike globetrotter as experienced as Helmut Pucher. “It took me a lot of patience and had to improvise a lot”, the Carinthian summons after 874 hours on the saddle of his STEVENS Prestige cyclo cross bike.

”Well-behaved, but with surprises” is the conclusion of Trekkingbike Magazine’s editors after a thorough lab and field test of the STEVENS Esprit, and ”well-behaved” is surely meant as a compliment.

There was no premature brake-up between the test rider and the Ventoux Disc rather the tester ”fell in love with the Ventoux again and again” on their many tours through the German region of the Lower Rhine, Palatinate and the Oden Forrest. Mathieu van der Poel was well on the way to becoming 2017 cyclocross World Champion when after the first half of the race a tire defect thwarted him significantly. Wout van Aert who he had just escaped from took the chance and broke away by all in all 44 seconds and after all superiorly defended his World Champion title. Mathieu van der Poel finishes as runner-up, more than one minute ahead of third-place winner Kevin Pauwels.

The editors extensively rode the entry-level model of the new carbon fully series over marathons courses and trails. Beside the STEVENS Jura Carbon the Jura Carbon XT, das Jura Carbon XT Di2 as well as the Jura Carbon Team belong to the new full-suspension family. The entry-level model offers the same frame geometry as its bigger brothers but uses an aluminium rear triangle instead of a carbon one.

Just by looking at the cockpit the editors were excited: ”The STEVENS E-Scope+ cockpit is sensational. On the left you have a shifter just like you are accustomed to from Di2 that you use to shift between three drive modes and to activate the push-assist.” The Shimano Steps 8000 provided strong forward drive that doesn’t need to shy away from competition, the testers said.
