Volt – Optimum Ergonomics For Triathletes

We don't know any aero cockpit that offers a wider and more precise range of adjustability than the Aeria Ultima from Profile Design. It is simple a dream for every bike fitter. So the Volt's armrests and extensions can be positioned by height, width, reach and angle until you have found a seating position that is comfortable and efficient for many hours. What does this mean? Best conditions for the subsequent running stretch.

The most intelligent way of lightweight design for STEVENS engineers is to use carbon forks with 100% carbon fibers that run all way though from dropout to steerer tube in one single piece. This results in an amazing riding experience on and off-road: Lightweight, knife-sharp steering precision effortless climbing and maximum lateral stiffness even when combined with disc brakes.

Electronic shifting is already well established in road bikes as well as in mountain bikes next to classic mechanical systems. Impressively fast and reliable gear changes and minimum maintenance pay their dividends not only at the Tour de France, in cyclocross or on the Cross-Country World Cup circuit. That's why STEVENS road bike and MTB frames are "Di2"-ready, meaning they are prepared for an elegant integration of batteries and electric cables (instead of usual wire cables). Even for the classy Alfine gear hub Shimano offers an electronic version.

Aero optimized Frame

When speed is the most important goal, sometimes a frame has to see the inside of a wind tunnel - and eventually come back to Hamburg with a few more "speedy" features. This means advantaged for the riders of our Super Trofeo in time trials and - with the Volt - also in triathlons.

In collaboration with the brake specialists at TRP our engineers hid the brakes on STEVENS time trial and triathlon bikes from head wind - at the front on the backside of the fork, at the rear behind the bottom bracket. This way, when going for your personal best, you are only slowed down when you do it on purpose.

Fork shaft (or steerer tube) and head tube are tapered, meaning their diameter increases from top to bottom resulting in a conical shape. The diameter needs to be bigger at the bottom since this is where higher stress is applied. Riders will benefit from a noticeable higher steering precision almost without weight penalty. Also tapered steerers feature a smoother force transfer (like forces caused by hard braking) to the downtube than forks with a continuous 1 1/8" diameter.

The seat tube tapers from top to bottom. At the top it fits a slim seatpost that offers some flex and therefore increases comfort especially when riding over rough ground. At the bottom the large diameter nicley flows into the bottom bracket shell and downtube to provide great stiffness and drivetrain efficiency.

High-Modulus Carbon Fibers

Only the very best materials are used for the highest quality STEVENS carbon frames - so called high modulus carbon fibres. They offer a perfect combination of maximum toughness and targeted elasticity. This way they provide maximum lateral stiffness for best forward drive and a high amount of comfort. Result: incredibly light and enormously stiff frames.

Who wants to be fast does not need to suffer – especially not when their STEVENS Carbon road bike is equipped with a Scorpo Carbon SL Comfort Seatpost which filters annoying road buzz. Its diameter of 27.2mm only and dedicated fibre orientation enable better flex without adding weight or loosing stability. By the way: the post can also be retrofitted.
