A well-designed concept with high-level wheels and specs. The classic diamond frame with sloping top tube was timeless, weight distribution was very good just like the craftsmanship … E-BIKE’s editors say about the E-Triton Luxe in a test of current touring pedelecs. Bikes ”giving you effortless freedom on day trips and for travelling”.
The E-Triton was the sporty interpretation of freedom on two wheels: ”The lightweight, well-balanced Stevens is a very nice handling, dynamic and well-balanced ride.” This impression was supported by the relatively low weight of 22.8kg/50lbs (in size 55cm). In relation to frame size it was the lightest bike in a ten-strong test field.
Speaking of touring capabilities: As the only bike in test it was equipped with a Bosch Nyon display. In addition to a so called fitness function it also offers sophisticated navigation.
Of course with heavy luggage the E-Triton’s rear wheel behaves a little more sluggish than without, this did not have a negative effect on the generally sporty ride characteristics, though. Just like all the other pedelecs in the test the E-Triton with heavy luggage did not leave a feeling of insecurity. All racks are perfectly suited for large and heavy panniers, all kick stands are sturdy.
The Bosch Performance motor together with the Shimano Deore XT 10-speed drivetrain offered the best combination in the test field – also adding to the sporty touring-capable character.
Conclusion: Classic, sophisticated all-round pedelec. Sporty, yet secure ride characteristics, high-quality display.
The STEVENS E-Triton Luxe is available in the Gent’s version in frame sizes 52, 55, 58, and 61cm. In the Lady (trapezoid frame) and in the Forma (low instep) version the model is available in frame sizes 46, 50, and 54 and in 46, 52, and 56cm, respectively for 3,599 Euros.
