Laurens Sweeck takes first World Cup victory

In the fourth round of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup season in Maasmechelen, Belgium, Laurens Sweeck (Crelan-Fristads) took the first World Cup win of his career after a superior second half of the race.

After a very good start he was able to stay in the leading group in the first half of the race and from about the middle of the race he increased the pace and pulled away from his pursuers. In the end, the overjoyed Belgian crossed the finish line on his STEVENS Super Prestige 13 seconds ahead of second-placed Dutchman Lars van der Haar, securing his long-deserved first victory in a World Cup race.
