Manon Bakker is the best on the ice

After finishing third last year, STEVENS rider Manon Bakker (Crelan-Corendon) secured her first World Cup victory in the snow of Val di Sole.

In the Elite Men's race, U23 rider Joran Wyseure (Crelan-Corendon) rode to a magnificent third place in the highly competitive Elite Men's race.

Picturesquely situated between mountains, the course in Trentino, now part of the World Cup calendar for the third year, once again showed its challenging side. While winter snowfall is not uncommon in cyclocross races, it is a deliberate part of the spectacle in Val di Sole.

The track conditions were particularly favourable for Manon Bakker, who says she loves riding on snowy surfaces.

From the start, Manon was able to establish herself in the leading group, but stayed in the background for most of the race. At the start of the last lap, the 24-year-old Dutchwoman then launched an attack on the leading Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado.

Over the course of the final lap, Manon managed to break away from Ceylin and ultimately take the win with a lead of more than 20 seconds.

In the Elite Men's race, 22-year-old Belgian Joran Wyseure achieved his best World Cup result to date with third place - in his first ever race on snow. In the final phase, Joran even managed to get within striking distance of second-placed Niels Vandeputte. In the end, however, Wyseure finished in 3rd place and thus achieved his best World Cup result to date after 4th place in the UCI World Cup race in Dublin.
