The STEVENS E-Scope+ was an e-hardtail with a modern geometry for almost any kind of road, the Focus editors say in a special e-bike supplement. And it was an example of how useful semi-integrated batteries can be: ”The battery of this hardtail from Hamburg is cleverly hidden, yet it can quickly be removed or replaced.”
On the road the first thing to impress the testers was the Shimano Steps E8000 motor. It engaged very smoothly, yet ”when needed it delivered quite a lot of power.” The 2.8” wide Schwalbe Nobby Nic plus tires would help to get this power onto the ground. They offered much comfort on the trail and lots of traction especially on the front in combination with the fox suspension fork with 120mm of travel.
The testers also liked the Shimano Deore XT disc brakes with 180mm discs and the pointed out the bike’s great range. The E-Scope+ weighing in at 19.6kg (43.2lbs) was also by far (1.4kg/3lbs lighter than the closest competitor) the lightest bike of all.
Conclusion: The E-Scope+ ES is a dynamic e-MTB for a broad spectrum of uses. Even off-road it performs well due to its versatility.
The STEVENS E-Scope+ in Velvet Black is available in sizes 16, 18, 20 and 22in.
